Homework is hard on teachers, but even harder on students and children some people say if kids could actually receive the mindset of actually being able to call it a day and be able to get home and have their freetime but instead they have to wait until homework is finished to start freetime a quote from “Wwhy kids under age 14 dont need homework” by Justin Coulson “Research has demonstrated that it “overwhelms struggling kids and removes joy for high achievers.” A 2002 study found a direct relationship between time spent on homework and levels of anxiety, depression, anger, and other mood disorders and issues”, this evidence shows that kids are getting excited to go home after a long day of school but when they get home they need to do homework before their finally free and that that extra bit of time spent on homework is causing stress and other issues for children at young ages and continues throughout higher grade
When there’s too much homework, it can cause depression if a student is dealing with too much homework their life balance is thrown out of proportion (Steve). Also some teachers give out busy work for the students to do and they don 't learn anything from it, it just takes up valuable time to do (Conner, Pope, Galloway). One other thing that does not help on homeworks side is that students sometimes don’t get
Kids should be considered next time a teacher hands out homework, what is it doing to these kids. Homework can take away from family time, and can stress the lives of youth. Does it really help? Sure homework CAN be a good learning tool, but also affects kids in a negative way. Kids should have little to no homework to reduce stress upon students in schools.
Homework stress out students. Sometimes students may have a big workload, or they have a hard time understanding it. Some students have more work to complete so there is a greater likelihood for them to have more stress . Those things can cause stress for students.
Homework is like a boat with a hole in its side if there is a leak in the boat then the boat is useless. The water will rush in and fill the boat with cold, dark water. The same goes for homework, it is useless. All the nights kids spend with hours and hours of homework, all the tears and stress are not helping kids in school. Numerous amounts of today's kids have excessive amounts of homework.
Ok no one likes homework and it’s true there should be a no homework policy because homework causes frustration and takes time away from family and that can be hard. Some readers believe there should be no homework policy. We already get teached seven hours of school who would want to come home and do a couple more hours of homework, mean, come on. Some readers believe there should be no homework policy.
Down with Homework I agree with Alfie Kohn, when he states the strain that enormous amount of homework causes. But I disagree with his opinion in completely eliminating homework. We cannot eliminate homework because that will destroy the bridge that keeps students connected to their books after they leave school. I do however agree with Kohn in the recent, increase in homework children are getting.
Sounds like an ideal afternoon right? If only all schools never gave homework. Homework is used in a lot of countries and in others there isn’t any. Some people believe it helps improve grades and scores. Others think kids should not have homework because it doesn’t help them and use standardized tests to support them.
Homework. It’s arguably the thing children dread the most. Children go to school for eight hours a day and then are expected to come home and do school work. Kids hate it, and parents hate arguing with their children to do their homework, but is it really all bad? James Atwater is of the opinion that homework should be banned.
Has your child ever experienced physical symptoms of stress, such as headaches, exhaustion, sleep deprivation, weight loss, and stomach problems from homework? Many students say that homework causes stress, however 57% of parents believe that students are given the right amount of homework. Even though homework is assigned to help students practice time management, good work habits and reinforces the material that they learn in class but most students disagree. Homework doesn’t benefit a student, while homework is thought to be harmless it could cause serious consequences and by being responsible and doing it right when you get home it takes time away from family or extra curricular activities. This is why I propose that homework should be abolished from school in order to reduce stress or other symptoms, to create time for family/friends or socializing, and make school a fun place for students to learn rather than collecting pointless homework that could be done in class.
This proves that homework is not an effective learning strategy, and it actually teaches negative habits. Homework supporters believe that more homework translates to smarter students. Many studies have proven that dropping homework has positive effects on students in their school. Nancy Kalish’s article describes one school that put homework to the test,
The “Homework Debate” has occurred since the beginning of compulsive education. Some argue that children benefit from homework and rote memorization. Others say that homework is redundant and takes away from precious time with family and friends. I believe that homework for elementary aged children should be banned, and the homework given for students in junior and senior high school should be drastically reduced. With the heavy workload, many students are not getting adequate sleep, causing them to miss out on important topics taught the next day in class.
Although homework can help increase understanding of new topics this kind of practice is not helping students because it can interfere with sleeping, stresses kids and teenagers out and can cause depression, and even make a kid give up on school altogether. Some people believe that homework helps reinforce the skills taught to their students that day; however, if students are getting
Some believe that students are being overworked and being given too much homework that gets rid of their free time and turns students away from school and homework. People that are against students being given more homework say that it really is not beneficial to their education and growth. Studies show that over the years homework time has increased, “According to a study by Dr. Sandra Hofferth, the amount of time that grade-schoolers, ages three to 11, spend on homework increased by 50 percent between 1981 and 1997,” (Juan Williams). Now there are some people who do believe that homework in moderation can be beneficial to children and very important for their future education and work ethics. There have been studies that have proven that students who do homework do better in school do better than the children that do not do their homework.
Follow along as I prove your points of why we need to put a stop to homework or else we could have some serious issues. I’ll bring my best point first, which is that homework just results in too much stress which can be unhealthy. According to the US news,
