I am currently preparing for ministry in several ways, which include: School, co-founding and leading a women’s online devotional, planning a Christian women’s retreat, and being of service within other ministries. In addition, I spend time sitting before God and studying his word to ensure that I am doing what’s in alignment with his will. Recently, I decided to go back to school for biblical and theological studies and obtain a bachelor’s degree in this field. I did not always have a great interest in school during my younger years because there was not a subject I was passionate about or solely focused on. However, I am aware that great increase and responsibility requires even greater spiritually growth and dedication to sitting before God. I know that I am still growing, and the Lord still wakes me up daily, so, I know that I have not yet arrived. I understand that if I am going to have a commitment to the spiritual growth of so many others, my first commitment needs to be to God and myself. I must first be led by Christ, if I am going to lead others, which will ensure I am leading them back to God. Daily I commit time to God in different ways that position me to hear his voice, recognize his word, and grow in my prayer life. Some of my favorite ways to spend time with God are: listening to praise and worship music (this allows me to celebrate the Lord), praying on my knees before bed and in the morning(I can get better at morning prayer), praying over the bible (I ask the Lord to lead me to what I should read) and studying his word(I study to know it, and look at how it relates to me or this generation), praying with my friends, worshipping, and praying during my shower time (I refer to the shower as my prayer closet). I am staying faithful to time alone with God by ensuring that he is a part of my everyday life. When I manage not to spend time with God I begin to feel a great discomfort and conviction. I don’t enjoy this feeling, so, I attempt to avoid it as best as I can.
