After I graduated from high school, I was sure that if I wanted to accomplish my personal and career goals, I had to be patient to persist in my education. However, without the emotional support of my family, especially my mother and father’s support, I could have given up my career goals a long time ago. They provided me a decent quality of life since my childhood, but I decided that now it will be my turn to help them. My mother was a teacher and my father a businessman, but with my father’s illness, the only one that contributes to the household is my mother. It gave me a sense of how college classes were and the responsibilities that I had to have in order to get my Associate degree and then my Bachelor’s degree. Also, I was able to build my communication skills and get better my English. By making friends, I overcame my fear of speaking to people which made my transition to college easier. I passed the CAT-W successfully and now it was time to start to pursue my career goals. Because of my excellent development in the Cuny Start program and a little research to help me economically, I applied to ASAP and I was accepted right away then, I enrolled to BMCC for my credit classes. After my first semester, because of my good academic standing and my hard work, I was invited to join Phi Theta Kappa and now I’m a formal member of this honor society.
During my first semester, I joined to the Essence of Earth Club but because of a disagreement between the president and her group, the club got disintegrated. Furthermore, because she is leaving the next semester she though that I could be a good potential for the leadership of the club, because of my sense of responsibility and my ability to address and help with problems. I’m planning to apply for the presidency of the club next semester. Also, during this semester, I was awarded from ASAP for my excellent academic standing by being part of the Dean
