My commitment to public service is driven by a desire to lead, an eagerness to collaborate, and most importantly, a passion for delivering positive change. Growing up in a small town in Morocco with very little resources, if not almost non, did not stop me from having the eager to learn about global issues and stay up to date about current events. The Bosnian war was an event which shaped the path I want to pursue. At the age of four-five, that passion and curiosity of finding ways to solve issues in peaceful ways rather than violence erose then. My repeated questions about the existence of conflicts and violence were frustrating to my family. Their usual answer: “we are not in a position of power, we can’t do anything about”. It helped me put together my long term goal of twenty years later; in which I envisioned myself in the path of strengthening my leadership and diplomatic skills, building relations and attending academic programs with high challenging curriculum that have a global perspective. The deeper I got in achieving my goal, the more ambisous I got. My longer term then was set to become a diplomat and a changemaker. When I explained my vision to my family, I got no support, rather they were very opposed to it. Until this moment while I am writing this essay, they strongly believe I am taking the wrong path and they rather me pursue a business career. I believe in myself and how important the work I want to do is for the world. The feeling of responsibility to build bridges and empower communities is keeping me going. To accomplish this goal, I aspire to coordinate conferences and panels for students at the Tsinghua University, these events that kindled my passion for public service, building relations, and providing a space of not only understanding differences but accepting them. As a conference coordinator, I will use the mentorship and networking skills I have developed for over six years to introduce scholars from different fields to public policy and encourage them to pursue professions that fulfill their desire for social justice. In a world that is rapidly evolving, it is of a tremendous importance to involve future leaders in different fields to aspire interchange from all the possible ways, combat climate change, enhance security, and deepen friendships that will help generations to come in avoiding conflicts.
