My #1 goal is to become a pediatric oncology/hematology Nurse Practitioner. When I was 10 I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and T-cell disease. That experience changed my life and helped me establish what career I wanted. I’m currently enrolled in the Leadership and Management track. When I previously selected this specialty I was working as a Director of Nursing/Administrator for a Home Health Agency, later on I decided to continue my education fulfillment but changing jobs. It is not very well defined for me if upon completion of my education I will look for a different job position or stay where I’m right now, where currently, there are not management opportunities. What sparked my interest in social work Going through as much trauma as I did, I had no hope, my earliest suicidal thought I can remember was when I was old 6 years old. There was abuse daily for all of my siblings rather it was physical or mental by my mother. Unfortunately, I was the sibling who also was sexually abused by cousins and my mother's boyfriend. The Profession of Social Work as a Career Goal Graduating from high school, I have always had a passion working with kids. I never put into thought exactly what I wanted to do with kids, all I knew was that I wanted to work with kids. At first, my career choice was to become a midwife. There were several complications down the road, in which I could no longer pursue that career choice.

Personal Statement I am interested in studying for a degree in the Mental Health Nursing in your university, and I would like to make my career in this noble profession. I first considered nursing as a career some years ago, after I lost my father to a chronic kidney disease. The role played by the nurses in terms of care while he was in hospital and after his death was quite overwhelming. Although I had my first degree in Agricultural Economics, but this nothing in compare to the passion I later developed for nursing after the death of my father.
