An event that has marked my transition from childhood to adulthood was obtaining my first job. As a kid my only responsibility have been help with the house chores and cleaning my room always with my mother’s help. My major responsibility has been to obtain good grades and being a good student in school. This has allowed me to focus in what is really important because my parents want be to have a good education. Since I been thirteen I been helping my mom with her job to pay for my own cellphone bill. This was agreement made by me and my mom to create a sense of responsibility. I knew senior year was going to be expensive and I had a feeling I would annoy my parents asking them for so much money. So, I got hired at Pizza Hut as a server. On my first day my manager put me to wash the bathrooms. Remind you, I’ve never even dared to clean my own bathroom at home but I knew it was wrong if I didn’t do it at my job. Just on my first day of work I knew I had a lot of responsibilities ahead of me. Now I know what its like to get to work on time, I know if I don’t do my job, I will get fired. I now have to pay my phone bill with the money I get paid. I have to help out my dad with the car insurance bill since I’m in it now. As a kid, I never thought growing up could be this hard, but I am proud to say I know the meaning of responsibility. Work and school have help me realize that becoming an adult is more than just words. It is hard work and a lot of dedication especially if you know what you want in your life. It does not matter to me because I know that hard work does pay off and one day once I accomplish my career goals and personal goals I will be able to say that my parents did a great job teaching me the meaning of responsibility and school shape me up to be to woman I am going to
