I would like to be considered for promotion to the rank of Lance Corporal for a few reasons, firstly I have learnt basic leadership skills during the past year of CCF and I have displayed some of these during navigation exercises and leadership tasks. On a few occasions other cadets have chosen me to take the role of leader; this included being chosen by the senior cadet to lead an exercise during the RAF summer camp. On top of this, at the end of RAF camp I was awarded the ‘Best Male Cadet’ award. I have also taken every opportunity to support the contingent outside of the normal Tuesday evening parades; this has included 2 recruitment assemblies, ‘Navenby Camo Day’ and an open morning. Furthermore, I was chosen to produce this year’s written report on the Adventurous Training in the Lake District. In the up-coming half term I will be partaking in the Eastern Areas Leadership Training part 1 and part 2 at RAF Wittering, I believe that this will help me to become a better leader and more suitable for promotion. Since joining I have also greatly improved my ability to perform tasks on my own initiative, recognising when something needs done and taking charge if appropriate. Also I have improved my personal time management skills meaning that I am now rarely ever late. Additionally, I have become less shy and I am now more willing to assert myself when necessary. Overall, through the duration of my first year at CCF, I have learnt to trust in myself more.If I am promoted to Lance Corporal, then I would expect to take responsibility for some uniform checks and taking the register.
