Facing Psychology

Academic ability comes from being a well-rounded student. Knowing how we learn and why we do certain things based off how we think and feel can help us to be a better student as well as a better citizen in the world. Knowledge is power and after taking general psychology and learning the basics on consciousness from the science of our mindset and why the brain works in the way that it does. Learning about thinking, memory and even disorders that some encounter. It helped me learn what kind of student I am and how I can better myself to reach my full potential. According to King (2013a), “personality is a pattern of our distinctive thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that characterize the way an individual adapts to the world. Psychologists have approached these enduring characteristics in a variety of ways, focus on different aspects of the person” (pg. 362). Learning about how I think, feel and behave based off of my emotions and the way I process information has helped me to cut back on my anxiety meds and has even help me cut back on panic attacks when I feel stressed. I have been able to take knowledge learned from personality assessments and use the results of these test become a well-rounded student.
