Individualized Teamwork Plan In team settings, I respect others’ opinions, enjoy the team aspect, and do take charge when needed to get the project done. I start full-time at BlumShapiro in August and I feel like knowing how to work with a team is essential. As an auditor or even in the tax department, you always work with others. I have learned especially recently when I was dealing with my anxiety, to never judge anyone else. It is acceptable and normal for people to have different opinions and perspectives and it is good to have differences to formulate a good discussion. A lot of the information that I am reading is common sense to me. But on the other hand, in the workplace, a lot of the things that seem like “common sense” are not happening. Respect should be common sense to a lot of people but it is not. We often forget to be kind and respectful of other peoples’ opinions and thoughts. In an age where technology is so prevalent, we need to remember to think before we act, especially online. Sometimes I forget that companies do have access to the internet and social media. There were many examples in the book of people getting fired for disrespecting the company or clients of the company in which the person worked for. You have to respect and also think about your words before you put them online and on social media. My two top styles were: Style 1-Action and Style 3-People. I really enjoy working with people. But when needed I do step up to take control to make sure that the job gets done. One of my aspirations in life is to become a leader in the workplace. I have had many great leaders that have taught me not only things that dealt with the actual work but also life lessons that I hope to teach others in the future. In order to be a successful leader, I know that I have to make a plan to be a good teammate, listen to others, and know how to communicate effectively. Risk and change is something that I struggle with. Not only do I have to start listening more to my teammates, I need to start being able to accept and be ok with change. When I start my new adventure at BlumShapiro, I will be in different teams every week. As an auditor, I will be traveling to different companies to audit their financial statements. Each week I will be working with new people and this is going to be a change for me. There will be different people with different communication styles than mine.
