How did you develop an interest in social work? As I mentioned in the portions about my life this far my brother had ADHD growing up and it caused many problems for my family. Going to counseling and seeing how many children were struggling, and how many single parents there were made me want to help. I realized then I wanted to do something to make a difference in peoples lives like all the people that helped us through the situation did. I thought maybe being a counselor would be something for me but I saw social work and it felt like it was more of a fit for me. Seeing how many families struggle on a daily basis I wanted to be able to help them. I have always been a student that receives A’s or B’s and if I get below that I know I have not been working as hard as I should. I study a lot because I know I struggle with test taking. Sometimes no matter how long I study I still look at the test and feel as if I looked over nothing. It can be very frustrating but I always try to keep a positive attitude. I learn best by being able to see the information and copy it down. When under pressure I am usually very calm because I know the more pressure I put on myself the worse the situation gets. I was very active in high school so pressure is not new to me and I learned how to deal with it before letting it consume me. I am very quiet person and am know to sit in the back of class and avoid having to answer questions until I become more comfortable speaking in class. I try to eat a balanced diet and exercise everyday to keep myself in good health. Growing up we didn’t have many video games or things that kept us in the house. We were always outside playing or helping on the farm and I continue to be that type of person. I also find exercise as a stress reliever. Sometimes taking an hour to go and exercise can change my whole mood. I always try to get eight hours of sleep because I know if I don’t the next day I will be irritable. I have always been active from a young age so I like to be involved in many thinks that keep me up and
