Never judge a person by how they look, but by their personality. To begin, in the realistic fiction novel, Freak the Mighty, by Rodman Philbrick, they are two friends, Max and Freak, with disabilities. Max is a very tall person who has a learning disability and Freak is not that tall and has morquio syndrome. They end up going on adventures and facing trouble. There are two themes that could be found throughout the book. The two themes are never judging people by their looks, but by their personality and everybody needs a friend. Looks deceive people everyday. The only thing that matters though is their personality. You should never judge people by their looks, but by the personality is one possible theme. One way this is shown is on page 132, “‘Sulfuric acid,’ Freak says, raising up the gun and sighting along the barrel.’Good old reliable H2SO4. This shows the theme because Freak is Max’s friend and it was a tough time, but Freak was a good friend and went looking for Max instead of not caring. If Freak was not Max’s friend, he might not of been saved and not of survived. Furthermore Freak and Max have a really good friendship. Another way the theme is showed in the book is on page 86 when Max calls for help when Freak is having a seizure in the cafeteria. Max is a good friend because he got an ambulance so Freak can get to a hospital so something worst doesn’t happen. If Freak didn’t have a friend, he might not have got an ambulance to help him. When Freak was having a seizure and went in an ambulance Max was very sad that he was hurting and cared for him.You need a friend no matter what they look like just so you have someone to talk to and friend is a good person to have so you have people to do stuff with besides your
