Have you ever seen two things and realized they were connected in ways most wouldn't realize from just looking at them? This is the case with the two Ray Bradbury books All Summer in a day and Zero hour. These 2 are so similar because of a shared theme, adults need to pay more attention to the children they are in charge of because if not unwanted things can happen, These books also share very similar author's craft and structure which makes them close to each other. One reason why these short stories are so similar is because of the author's craft but more specific symbolism. That theme is adults need to pay more attention to the kids they are in charge of because if not unwanted things can happen. This theme is seen throughout the short stories in lots of places a couple of examples of this theme in Zero hour is when the dad gets home from work and thinks Mink is just playing hide and seek or when Mink tells her mom that she is summoning aliens and the mom thinks it's just a kids game. At first, you would think that these characters have much in common but when you look at their traits and the roles they play in the book your thoughts about this might change. All of the characters in the book have similar traits in the book and are linked for example the Mom/Dad and the teacher are both oblivious and in the book, they do not care enough to check what their children are doing so bad things happen, in the 2 books Mink and Margot are the same they both get controlled, Mom/dad and the teacher are the same they are all oblivious, and the Classmates and Drill are the same they control. This supports my claim because it shows that all the characters in the books have similar roles and traits which make the short stories so much more similar, it really shows that the books are similar beyond the surface and share a real connection in the depths of
