The subject of this article is to review the perspectives (traditional, modern, and post-secular) on science and religion in the United States. Religion is defined as a unified system of beliefs and practices relative to sacred things. Science is defined as the systemic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment. As the article states, “individuals favor either scientific or religious ways of understanding.” (CITE***) Throughout the article many relationships, conflicts, and perspectives are discussed on the role of religious and scientific understanding in individuals and its focus on societal development. One important issue is the extensive research on science, religion, and the public. The assumption of religion and science being casually related creates a controversy that warrants further investigation. The second important issue is the confusion between science and religion based lives.
