Persuasive Animal Abuse Essay

Every sixty seconds, another animal experiences a form of abuse to some degree -- whether it be product experimentation, force, or neglect. By the time I’ve finished delivering this speech, at least three animals will have been exposed to one or more of these harsh and inhumane conditions. Over the course of your school day, this totals to about 400, and during the time it takes to go from this morning when you woke up to tonight when you’ll fall asleep, nearly one thousand animals are being hoarded, slaughtered, or deprived.

Many of you have pets at home -- if not, you at least know of someone who does -- and I’m sure you would never wish any harm upon them. Unfortunately, this is the case for millions of harmless animals all across the …show more content…

A prime example of this is pet hoarding, which refers to the excessive possession and housing of animals. When people are unable to sufficiently look after and care for all of their pets, it poses a risk to the pets’ health and wellbeing. Neglected by their owner, they lack the nutritional and sanitary conditions necessary to keep them alive and well and, as a result, could end up dying of starvation or serious illness.

Alternatively, animal testing is a form of abuse that destructs the innocent lives of rats, mice, frogs, rabbits, pigs, and primates in a cruel and inhumane way. Even the cats and dogs we have grown to love so deeply are often exploited to the harsh conditions of animal testing. Whether it be commercial or scientific, animals who are experimented on are imprisoned in dangerously confined areas, often cages, and are exposed to the harmful and sometimes even deadly effects of experimentation.
