Evil comes in many colors; even dogs. On January 6, news and social media websites have identified the 15-month old girl that was killed by her babysitter’s pit bull-mix. After learning this information and consulting with the Commonwealth’s Attorney, the babysitters are seeking additional charges with second-degree murder. Who would have expect that it could come from a dog, but it is possible (Babysitters Charged). Overall it is clear that although people believe the owners of their dogs should get fined or even jail time for the actions of their dogs ', but that should not always be the case. The owners should not get arrested for the actions of their dogs for two main reasons. First, they cannot control their dogs every move, but most importantly dogs have a mind of their own and as much as we try to control them they do not always listen to their masters every command. After learning information the commonwealth’s Attorney; the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office is going to charges the two babysitter’s with felony homicide also known as second-degree murder (Babysitters Charged). Even though we cannot prevent every dog attack that does not mean the owners should always get a heavy penalty because some of the owners actually try to contain the dog in its place. It’s not their fault that their dogs have a mind of their own and tend to use it more often than we want them to. Most dogs are rebels and can take actions into their own hands, so instead of putting all the punishment on the owners how about we start putting consequences on the dogs as well.
