Every human has heard about the controversial topic of climate change. Climate change is something that is affecting every living thing on the Earth. Whether you think it’s real or not, it’s something very serious that is slowly but surely destroying our planet. It has been debated for many years whether it actually exists or not, but as time can tell, it does. It is caused by greenhouse gases which is essentially, the trapping of the sun’s warmth in a planet’s lower atmosphere. It is also caused by industrialization and the activities that humans depend on each day. The effect of just a few of these things cause temperature changes which lead to drastic amounts of forest fires which are caused by severe droughts. It also leads to the dying …show more content…

“Ocean levels were climbing 1.6 to 1.9 millimeters (0.063 to 0.075 inch) per year between 1901 and 1990. But calculations from glacial melt and thermal expansion suggested that throughout those same nine decades, seas rose a mere 1.2 millimeters per year. Though tiny, all such increases do add up. They also can cause coastal land to flood, particularly during high tides and hurricanes.” (Oosthoek). This particular piece of evidence leaves nothing but the explanation of our Earth’s temperatures rising, which leads to sea levels to rise fast. “Global sea level has risen by about 8 inches since reliable record keeping began in 1880. It is projected to rise another 1 to 4 feet by 2100.” (Tennenbaum). When sea levels rise at such a fast rate, flooding is more likely to happen which can put many homes and businesses at risk. “The number of people at risk from flooding by coastal storm surges is expected to increase from the current 75 million to 200 million in a scenario of mid-range climate changes, in which a rise in the sea level of 40 centimeters is envisaged by the 2080s.” (Patz, 310). This information can tell us that even the smallest amount of change can affect sea levels drastically. According to research, sea levels are not expected to stop rising until the Earth’s oceans’ cool down. As a result of these sea levels increasing are the higher chances …show more content…

Climate change may begin to become "dangerous" to humanity. It has now arrived, though very briefly—yet, much more quickly than anticipated. This is a milestone moment for our species and our planet deserves our greatest possible attention. Among the changes in precipitation, increases in sea-levels, droughts, wildfires, disappearing ice in the Arctic, and diseases it is safe to say that climate change can negatively affect our planet in a variety of different
