Imagine a patient having to suffer through constant pain for the rest of their life. Imagine a patient having absolutely no dignity left because they are forced to spend the rest of their life in a hospital bed. Imagine a patient not having any control over the choices in their life. Imagine a patient desperate to find a way to be able to escape this suffering. Imagine a patient having to deal with endless pain and cannot escape it due to other people’s beliefs. The solution to these problems is euthanasia. Euthanasia, or doctor-assisted dying, is the painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease or in an irreversible coma. Euthanasia dying should be legalized because it ends the patient’s continuous pain and suffering, it gives the choice of a painless way to die, and it allows the patient to have control of their life. …show more content…

When a person becomes deathly ill, their family is forced to watch their loved one wither away in the hospital bed, while sometimes dealing with excruciating pain. According to Faye Girsh, the President of the World Federation of the Right to Die Societies, “It should be considered as much of a crime to make someone live who with justification does not wish to continue as it is to take life without consent” (Girsh). Faye Girsh is also a founder of the Hemlock Society which is a National right to die organization in the United States who provides information to the sick and dying, while also supporting any legislation that attempts to legalize doctor-assisted dying.
