Onychectomy, or declawing, is a surgical procedure to remove cat’s claws, usually for reasons convenient to the owner. Many people support the declawing of cats for the protection of their furniture and children. Cat claws can quickly tear up furniture and scratches often make people sick. Because scratching is a deeply ingrained instinct in cats, if there is no appropriate spot or post for them to scratch at, they will be forced to substitute furniture or other objects. However, declawing is a dangerous and inhumane practice that is unnecessary for cats.
The Freshman 15 is a thought that crosses the minds of most future college students, but most say that it won’t happen to them. This fear of losing a toned body after graduating high school bothers some more than others. They realize after high school there are no longer athletics, and they’ll no longer be exercising regularly. Also, when they depart from their parents house and begin to live on their own their eating habits change.
Argumentative Essay In “To Build a Fire,” the story of an unnamed man traveling along the Yukon Trail with a dog is told. Throughout the story, the man’s death is foreshadowed. The husky that he is traveling with has a natural instinct and understands, seemingly more than the man, that traveling the Yukon Trail in the freezing cold temperatures is extremely dangerous. The man soon learns how cold it is when he spits.
The first attempt and success to climb Mt. Everest occured in 1953. Since then, almost 4,000 people have been able to scale the mountain, but over 230 people have not been able to climb it successfully. There is a chance of accident or death when climbing this mountain or any dangerous activity. All people should should have the right to rescue services even if they knowingly put themselves at risk because there is always a chance of an accident happening, rangers are there to save people in danger, and there are rescue vehicles being produced to be used in case of an emergency.
People who argue against prescribed fires say that it "produces to much smoke" or "there's a risk of the fire escaping". First of all, the smoke of a prescribed fire is way less than that of an uncontrolled fire. Second, the chance that the fire escapes is very slim, it usually never happens in controlled fires. Some people worry about the plant life and the soil as well, when there is no need. Usually the habitat is destroyed when an uncontrolled fire is happening, and the soil only gets effected it the fire is at a somewhat high intensity.
With the pressure to legalize marijuana rise for government officials, protesters argue that decriminalizing marijuana would help society and benefit the people living in the Unites States. In states that have already legalized marijuana, it has been documented and proven that marijuana usage has been higher than before legalization, even if the consequences were very severe (“Marijuana Decriminalization”). If people are so highly dedicated to continuingcontinue using marijuana, even with their lives and future at stake, what could stop them? Marijuana has been proven to be a “gateway” drug, therefore, if marijuana were to be legalized, eventually other harmful substances could be legalized as well causing many deaths and various forms of
Expungement has to be a Tool on the Table Did you know the United States now locks up a higher number of it population than any other country in the Word. We now have over 2 million people incarcerated today (Jacobson, 2005, p. 8). Of the people who go to prison only 5% stay or die in jail, the other 95% are released from jail, and of those 95%, 80% are released to parole and are supervised by the system (Jacobson, 2005, p. 131). So these people are now on the streets trying to live their lives and face the challenges of paying bills, relationships (getting along with people), get education for a personal growth, getting a job or a good job with benefits, and even a house over their head, plus let’s not forget food.
Could you ever possibly imagine a time where you couldn’t use the same bathroom as some of your classmates because the had a different skin color? This time in history was known as the Civil Rights Movement, a movement from 1954-1954, in which people fought against racism. Although the Civil Rights Movement mainly affected African Americans, but involved all of American society. Because most racism against ancient African Americans took place in southern United States, civil rights was extremely important to African Americans who lived in the south. Racism was so widely spread it even found its way into professional sports.
If you take a look at American life 50, 60, and even 70 years ago, its much different from the life that we know today. People of today do not have to constantly watch their backs, or remind their children that they are not allowed to play outside because of one simple factor; skin. Our progress is undoubtedly a positive slope, but as the saying says, there 's surely always room for improvement. The question we should ask ourselves is if we are doing enough to ensure that our past advocates, and philosophers, and supporters did not die in vain because then we would be unworthy of claiming the rights that they fought so hard for. The civil rights movement has always been a major political and civil unrest, but civil rights activists created unrest for their kids, and their grandchildren, to secure equal treatment for everybody.
They may have banned slavery, but racism still occurs today in this world. We can stop the racism. No matter what you look like, we are all human. Skin color does not matter whatsoever. We all have a brain and a heart and of course feelings, “... all men are equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable Rights that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Should kids under the age of seventeen have a curfew law of 9 pm? No, because there are many activities or situations that teens do which they are not responsible for being out past 9 pm. There are many school related activities that students attend that can go to as late as 10 pm. Yes, most teens stay out and try to be trouble makers, yet a 9 pm curfew is not going to help it's shown that the average teen crime rate has gone up in a few states that have already passed this law. Plus, most teenagers also have jobs and what are they supposed to do if they don't get off work until 10 pm or 11 pm we shouldn't need choose between getting fired because people can't ever work late or take a fine for the curfew.
Climate Change is something that we have caused because of our choices to burn fossil fuels, at some point we have to face the problems that we have created. The consequences of Climate Change are horrific and Climate Change could end our existence as a species, most people do take action against Climate Change except, The Government of the United States of America, refuses to accept the serious dangers of climate change and continues releasing propaganda on Climate Change, claiming its effects are minimal and that we are not causing it. Peculiar how almost every other government in the world thinks otherwise. The reasons we are heading in the wrong direction is because the actions of humans are causing Climate Change, and almost all scientists agree on this matter. Another reason is the that the government isn’t trustworthy in what they say about Climate Change, meaning what they say about Climate Change is wrong, and we should change our policy on Climate Change.
