Boxing has been around for quite some time and has gathered a huge following. Even though boxing has so much entertainment around it there are some controversies going around that boxing should be banned. “Since 1940 and on at least 300 professional boxers have passed away as a result of injuries sustained in the ring and more have suffered permanent brain damage.” This is one of the many reasons why critics say that boxing should be banned around the world due to the immense number of injuries since 1940. “There are those occasional tragedies where someone is killed or critically injured plus a there is the chronic problem that when someone is hit on the head, they have a minor degree of injury to the brain.” A hit to the head can cause the most damage because it has a chance of causing permanent damage to the brain. When someone strikes the head when boxing “the skull strikes the brain and sends it rebounding off the opposite wall of the skull.” All these statements may be true, but keep in mind that these tragedies happen daily, and the percentage of injuries can decrease with more safety observations. Boxing shouldn’t be banned just because many say it is dangerous or deadly, but if you were to see what they don’t do for safety in boxing then you would agree with me that that needs to add more safety and not be banned
