As Perdue grower Carole Morison claims, “The companies keep the farmers under their thumb because of the debt that the farmers have” (Food Inc 15:35-15:40). The profit of the farmers is below the cost of raising the poultry, the farmers are in debt with the bank due to demands to upgrade the animal’s sheds. The birds have no freedom, are kept in overcrowded sheds and suffer a strangling short life. The bird’s organs and bones are not able to keep up with their rapid growing bodies, as a result they become sick. As consumers, we should halt buying meat from such companies that do not treat their cause so much animals suffering. We should not support meat companies and buy from locally free ranch animal farms which are disease free.

These animals’ barley moves and step on their feces all day, this unhygienic practice leads the industrialized meat to be highly contaminated with the viruses. Due to the industrialized farming spread of E. coli virus is spreading widely. The FDA needs to implement regulation to feed animals, fresh grass a week before slaughter to prevent spread of diseases. As Michael Pollan said, “If you take feedlot cattle off of their corn diet, and give them grass for five days, they will shed 80% of the E. coli in their gut.” (Food Inc 35:59-36:07). The FDA should have the jurisdiction to close industries which have traces of pathogen in meat. The industrialized animals are fed corn which is indigestible making them sick. The animals are mistreated, they feel weak and sick by eating corn, not being able to walk they are dragged by machines to the slaughter house. Modern agriculture is concentrating on growing food, faster, bigger and cheaper, no one is really concerned of the consequences of mechanized meat production on human health. It is also hard for the organic farms raising animals for milk and meat to compete with big industries, thus government should support these farms and
