We live in an thriving society constantly evolving in an epidemically induced world. A widely debated epidemic in our world today is the debate over tobacco products and their long term effects. Smoking cigarettes is the #1 leading use of tobacco in the world today. This variable has led me study and debate the topic of tobacco use by analyzing an ad on anti smoking. The ad I am analyzing portrays a fictional long term effect of tobacco use through the action of smoking cigarettes. We will study the ads imagery and text to ultimately debate does the long term use of tobacco subsequently end with disastrous consequence? First and foremost we all have witnessed tobacco use and anti tobacco movements in our own personal lives. For instance, social media has become a vital routine for the average person. Tobacco companies and anti tobacco groups have targeted social media to gain larger public attention. A popular advertisement found on television, magazines, social sites and apps is an anti smoking propaganda campaign known as the truth. The truth has publicly exposed information on big tobacco companies and their poor driven tactics for tobacco sales. However, the ad can also be used to argue all information is listed in plain sight and misinterpretation of the information becomes a personal liability rather than a public debate. The use of imagery within the ad makes a strong meaningful impactful statement for those who oppose tobacco use. On the other hand, the ad and its imagery can be seen as a faulty analogy within no scientific evidence to reinforce the claim being expressed within the
