Today, when flying a spacecraft no pilot desires to be interrupted unless of an absolute emergency, however, on Apollo 8, the pilots were disturbed for a plethora of reasons besides emergencies. Several astronauts from America have died going into space, thus, Boardman, who would pilot Apollo 8 into space was slightly nervous. Moreover, Apollo 8 would be launched from its plant in Downey, California, where the newer versions of the same ship type were crafted. Boardman was offered the option to be launched on December 21st, four days before a major holiday, Christmas. In other words, when both were doing certain actions they would say for example, go open the garage, watch, and let Spike, the guard dog run out and chase that intruder away from our property, so that way the other citizen could call the police. Moreover, if both did those actions, the custard would be balanced since both would be helping each other. Furthermore, if one resident only watched Spike chase the intruder while the other citizen was sleeping, they probably would not be able to call the police without disturbing the other person, thus, making the custard “gooey.” Aside from that, before Boardman took off, his wife Susan decided to have a talk with NASA’s director of flight operations. Susan’s talk with the director was pleasant and Susan wished to have another discussion with him again. Before flying on Apollo 8, Boardman had done other flights, some, which normally did not come out well. Before flying in Apollo 8, Boardman did some test flights and did one particular one called “Zoom.” Moreover, Boardman had flown Zoom several times, however, one morning the end result would be different from the past routines. When Zoom climbed to 40,000ft, one of its engines failed and exploded which is an extremely unusual action. The bang sound from the explosion was ear splitting and the flashing red light meant the pilots were in for a direful surprise-death.
