The Titanic "The unsinkable ship" they called her. Her construction was flawed from the beginning and many say Titanic was doomed from the start. The ship featured a double bottom and 15 watertight bulkheads with electric watertight doors. The doors could be operated by a switch on the bridge. It was these watertight bulkheads that inspired Shipbuilder magazine to call them “practically unsinkable.” The watertight compartment design had a flaw that could possibly have been a big factor in The sinking of Titanic. The individual bulkheads were watertight, but water could spill from one bulkhead into the next.
