I would also like to see more educational programs, workshops and mentorship beginning at the time when young adults need it the most. The average age that underage drinkers ages 12- 20 begin to drink is 16 years old. Some attributes to this are similar to that of the college life; fitting in, being socially accepted as well as building up personality. Pre-Teens and Teenagers need to hear more from their schools and not only just by their parents to not take part in drinking. If students are more self-conscious about their actions and their impacts, then it would make it far much more difficult to want to drink because of being fearful for the worst. A mentorship or panels where ex-drinkers, alcohol abusers and so forth would come and speak to the teens about their past experiences relating to binge drinking and how it affected other aspects of his/her lives, it would be something that the children would never forget. …show more content…

This seems to be more of a logical approach in public health awareness and promotion because not telling children the entire truth about the dangers of alcohol to protect their innocents will make things worse in the long run. In the long run children will not have a true depiction of reality. Not everything is sugar coated or perfect; In life we will all be tested and it it is up to parents, teachers and family members to set the bar straight, to educate and give children the knowledge for them to say yes or no to alcohol at any given point in their life.
