Birth control has many positive and negative affects. Some people say that teenage girls should be allowed to get it without their parent’s permission, and some say they shouldn’t be able to. Teenage girls should be able to get it without the permission of their parents because it helps with more than only pregnancy prevention, some parents don’t allow it due to the effects of it or why they think they need it, and it should be needed for the sexually active.
Birth control can do more than prevent pregnancy. “Teen girls don’t want to talk to their parents about the idea of birth control because they will think that the parents suspect they’re having sex” (Debate). It can help with controlling periods, acne, and many other things. If you don’t get your period regularly or it’s too heavy, you can get on birth control and it will regulate it and control the heaviness. It also helps someone that has really bad acne; once they start taking birth control, it gets controlled much more. …show more content…

It could be because they don’t like the side effects, they don’t think their kids need to be sexually active, the cost of it, or maybe it’s just because they don’t want the thought of knowing their daughter is growing up. If the parent doesn’t like the side effects of birth control, then they need to look into other types. According to Planned Parenthood there are 19 different forms of birth control (Birth Control). Obviously not all of them are going to have the same side effects. Most parents don’t think their kids need to be sexually active. Although, most of the parents that say their kids don’t need to be doing those kind of things, did it in their high school era. Birth control can be expensive, but that shouldn’t be an excuse for parents. Buying protection is much cheaper than buying diapers and any other thing you need to take care of a
