Caffeine ranks as the world's most widely consumed drug. Researchers at Villanova University present that up to 90% of adults consume consume caffeine in some form every day(Villanova.edu). Coffee represents the largest source of caffeine consumed by Americans, but many food companies are beginning to add caffeine the products that might not generally contain the substance. Not only do these new products increase average caffeine consumption, they also allow caffeine to be more available and attractive to children, whose tolerance toward the effects of caffeine are less than adults. Because caffeine is, by definition, a drug of abuse, Caffeine control should be improved to stop companies from adding it to their products.

Caffeine is a drug, and because it’s full effects are still being studied, allowing children to have easier access of consumption is a serious health risk; Some risks, we may not have diagnosed yet. If the regulations on caffeine aren't amended soon, caffeine will quickly make it's way into more foods people buy, and the outcome will be irreversible.
The safe limit of caffeine consumption is only an approximate. Different people have different levels of tolerances, with children's still developing bodies being the lowest. This low tolerance is becoming more of an issue, as the FDA has recently found the drug in jelly beans, waffles, gum, syrup, and even our water. This all adds on to the soon unavoidable list of ways to consume caffeine.
