539 Words3 Pages

Having a German shepherd puppy is not just about having a cute dog; there are more things to consider other than that. Without training, a German shepherd can grow up to be a dog that will be hard to control. Seeing the appearance and size of a German shepherd can be very frightening for some people, but only a dog that does not listen or obey to his masters orders can ruin a neighborhood and a home.

It is always important to start training your German shepherd pup the moment he comes into your home. This is to ensure that your dog will grow to be a pleasurable member of your family. Here are some tips on training German shepherds that you can start with your puppy.

Who's In Charge?

Hopefully you are, when it comes to German shepherd training. If he does, a firm shake to the scruff of the neck and fifteen minutes in his crate with no attention from you should do the trick. Once your dog accepts you as his pack leader, the rest of your German shepherd training should go much more smoothly.

Be Consistent

Just like little kids, dogs respond to a fair and consistent instruction. If you do not like the idea of your dog jumping up or climbing on the sofa in your living room, do not make him sit there at all. If you want your dog to listen and obey your command to go to his crate, be sure to enforce instruction every time you offer it to him.

Being consistent in the household will make your dogs comfort and security lever higher and that will make him more obedient to your commands. You will have to think about the rules that you want done before you bring your pup home and make sure that you stick with these rules.
