When most kids are entering high school, there’s the usual worries: when’s your next sporting event? Are you keeping up on that 4.0 cumulative GPA? Do you have a prom and homecoming date? The cliché list continues. That’s the beauty of high school. However, for me when I entering high school, it was a completely different story. When owning and managing a weather organization with a team of over ten members while covering 99 counties, your job is to report on the weather, along with any changes. The process begins nearly a week in advance of what we call the “event.” Events are simply slang for impactful weather, not necessarily hazardous weather. A big part in this involves observing consistency in every model run, with consensus among all models. If there are discrepancies, there’s a higher chance of error. The data provided by these models is indispensable. Not because of just the data gathered and generated, but because of the formulas that are automatically ran as a result of that data.
