Tornados are one of the most weather phenomenons that we have. The Joplin tornado was one of the worst tornados that were recorded. This was also the deadliest tornado that has ever happened in the United States. These natural disasters were from Oklahoma all the way to North Carolina. There was over a 150 tornados that spawned from these natural disasters. Tornados started to spawn everywhere that went from Texas to New York. The Joplin tornado killed over 300 people and many more injures. The Joplin tornado was on May 22, 2011. It took the city a long time for it to recover.
There were many factors that made the Joplin tornado so deadly. The biggest reason was the tornado’s vortex and debris. This picks objects up and throws them violently around. This is why so man people have died from tornados and why there is so much destruction. The Joplin tornado was an EF5 tornado that had horrible impacts. The wind speed hit over 200 mph. The Joplin tornado had clouds of dust and debris.

The Joplin tornado hit in the evening on May 22, 2011. Joplin is located in Missouri. There is a population of over 50,000 people in the city of Joplin. The south part of Joplin was the first to get hit by the tornado. Joplin high school had its high school graduation when the tornado was coming into the town. There were so many people that were at the graduation before the tornado hit. Nobody was expecting a tornado to come through the city of Joplin. Summer was almost around the corner, which made a bunch of teenagers off guard. Before the tornado spawned you could tell that there was a storm coming. The wind speed was increasing drastically while it was blowing dirt and dust around. Rainfall also started to come down heavy including hail. It looked like lightning was in the tornado, which was not a good sign. Everyone lost power during the storm so a bunch of people really did not know what was actually going
