The issue of same sex marriage has been an issue ever since about the 1970’s in the United States history. Activists have been working hard to insure that same sex couples receive the same treatment as different sex couples. Gay rights has been an occurring topic since the 1970’s when there was riots to try to bring light to the subject so it could be resolved. However, the citizens in these riots didn’t take much interest in this issue because they didn’t support it. Even though people would laugh and make fun of gay people they supporters of these gay groups would never give up on the issue. Mr. Milk allowed many women and men to come out including Rep. Barney Frank who became the first openly gay congressman in history. These brave people have showed that it’s okay to show your interest even if they aren’t what everyone agrees with. These brave individuals allow people to open up and be who they are without having to worry about losing their lives. However, people are always going to judge people that is just in every human beings brain. Gay people are going to judge and ask why straight people are straight and same as straight people judging and asking why gay people are gay. Many people would believe that football is a manly sport and should only be for manly men but there has been a few brave individuals that have come out openly and said they are gay. The biggest football player to come out is Michael Sam that played for Missouri no one knew that he was gay until he was done with his college football career and was ready for the pros.
