In today’s society the term homosexuality has a harsh representation of what being homosexual is. Some people are under the impression that homosexuality is a disease and wrong. If you get in contact with it then you will become one too. According to David Greenberg a professor at the University of Chicago also agreed and argues that homosexuality is not a condition, it is not like being black or white or left-handed (Browning, 2014). For example, Harvey Milk was the first openly gay man to hold a major American political office. He was elected to San Francisco's Board of Supervisors in 1977, where through his appointment to office he demonstrated that neither sexual orientation nor preferences are not sufficient criteria to characterize and discriminate against homosexuals.

In this article the United Nation has been put into an awkward position where they have been warned that going against and banning same-sex union would cause problems for their alliances outside of the United States.
