It has never been a bad thing that people want to come to America from another country. After all, we are the last best hope. The shining beacon in the night, and a land where every man or woman can be successful with hard work and determination. Although we are told quite differently, we are one of the few countries, in which a citizen can be born poor, but become a great success through perseverance.
Many people that come to the United States truly do want to work hard and have a better life. This nation has a long tradition of immigrants arriving to build a better life, we are in fact, a nation of immigrants, but times have changed and those trying to come to our country illegally are nothing like the people seeking refuge here years ago. Political pandering and political correctness has given birth to a society that has been slowly and steadily persuaded to believe that we can continue to take in anyone across our boarders at any cost. Moreover the moment that anyone suggests that there might be a problem with illegal immigration they are immediately branded as racist, xenophobic or just plain ignorant.
The sad truth is a majority of the Americans are not against illegal immigration because they harbor some profound hate of another group of people. Rather, they just want all immigrants to go through the front door, and they want the government to realize that there are limits. We have to be able to take care of the needs of every American before there is a pathway to citizenship of any kind. When the rights or needs of illegals takes precedents over that of American citizens, we find ourselves in dangerous
