Illegal Immigrants
According to statistics by the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy, in 2013 there were more than 43.1 million immigrants in the United States making up about 13 percent of the population (ACS). In the year 1970, the United States contained about 9.6 million immigrants. Over the years those numbers increased to almost 41.3 million people by 2013 (Zong and Batalova, N. Pag). Migrating to the United States can be a long and hard process. This is why some may find it easier to cross the border into America illegally. In spite the fact that it is illegal to come to America without the proper documented papers, immigration should not require a process to come to the United States. Jobs in areas such as construction and agriculture would significantly grow. One reason this may happen is because those two particular fields of labor are hard work and require a lot of strenuous activity. Many immigrants are so willing to work in these fields of labor because they have motivation for a new life. They will do whatever they can to make a living better than they could have where they were from. This is much different than the perspective of someone who has lived in America their whole life. Granted, there are many people who have spent their entire life in America and have strong work ethics. Not surprisingly though, most people throughout the U.S. would not be willing to do such hard labor because that was not how they were raised and life in America is so familiar to them. Most Americans are used to the luxuries given here in the U.S. those luxuries may range from clean drinking water, better school systems, and a significant amount of job variety. With that being said, because immigrants usually come from a life of poverty, living in America is a dream come true for
