Immigration is the action of coming to live permanently in a foreign country. Immigration has been a major controversy in the United States. How many immigrants should we bring in in a year? What kind of test should they have to pass? What if they end up being criminals? How can we deny someone citizenship in the U.S. when we were founded upon by immigrants? Those are all questions almost anyone will think of when speaking of immigration. Immigration is not a bad thing; but in today’s world, one can never be too careful. Many immigrants or, refugees, that the U.S. brings in each year come from terrorist countries. As a result of this, there is controversy as to whether or not America should build a wall or continue helping people from third world countries. Having more employees will help cut down the amount of time it takes to get a green card or a visa. Employing more people in Homeland Security will benefit the immigrants applying for green cards and visas because it will allow their voice to actually be heard in the midst of thousands of others. According to Hillary, she will “increase access to language programs to encourage english proficiency” (Clinton). It is sad that Americans do not speak multiple languages, but it is the truth. Employing more people for language programs will help immigrants get approved for visas and green cars considering one cannot get approved without the evidence of english proficiency.
