Intimate partner violence is a pending problem in many countries. The term refers to any violent act committed in an intimate relationship , thus making one of the partners an abuser and the other a victim. Unfortunately, there are some people who would blame the victims for the suffered violence. Scientists, who believe that the victim is always the cause of violence . Legislative arms of states, with the opinion that certain victims do not deserve to be included in the judicial system . Well, victims are not to be blamed! First of all, victims should not be blamed for a crime committed against them, and every single one of them should have the right to defend themself in a court of law . These sort of charges are on the rise, and even the police cannot recognize the true aggressor. When they have dilemmas , this is the reason why some states organize special training for the police force . In cases where the victim is recognized as a victim, they have the right to defend themselves in a court of law. Even though it is a basic human right, this is not an option available for everyone. Many states, still validate only heterosexual unions. . However, homosexual relationships still lack legal status, and they are not something new. The problem is that if a victim from a same sex relationship wants to prosecute the abuser, they should first confess to having committed an act of sodomy . The most illogical exclusion from the jurisdiction of intimate partner violence is the one of adolescent/teenage relationships. If it is taken in consideration that people on average become victims of intimate partner violence as early as fifteen years of age this is just wrong. Some countries, like Hawaii are an exception. In their new laws on the subject of intimate partner violence they include not only same sex relationships, but all sorts of "dating relationships"
