The legalization of marijuana has been a topic of mass discussion for decades upon decades. The government has made weed an illegal substance due to its harmful effects on the body. But the underlying issue is that the government has not formulated an efficient system to regulate the distribution of marijuana for their benefit. With that being said, if the government could police the supply of weed in a profitable manner, then maybe its legalization would not seem so immoral. The government is also concerned with the crime rate due to growing and selling of weed. It is quite possible that its legalization would reduce this crime rate tremendously. With the authorization of crime free weed distribution, the government could yield a remarkable income from the taxation of marijuana. …show more content…

The government has had its troubles with policing the distribution of weed to society’s youth due to the underground system humanity has almost perfected. Weed should be legalized and not just for the everyday pot smoker, but also for the increased revenue the government would receive. The legalization of marijuana would provide the government with advantage of taxing weed as they do with household items such as coffee and food. The government receives anywhere from .25 cents to .50 cents per cup of coffee. If the same tax was induced on weed per gram, the government could see substantial incomes from its legal distribution. For example, if .50 cents were taxed per gram of weed sold, then someone who bought 20 grams of weed would be taxed $10 dollars. That is just one person. If one were to multiple that single person by 10,000, then the outcome would be extraordinary for government
