There are many problems in the U.S. today, and one of them is a very big issue. This issue is whether or not to legalize marijuana, which is the dried flower, seed or leaves from the Indian Hemp plant (“What is marijuana”). It is known as the most common Illegal drug that is used in the U.S.. A survey showed in 2007 that 14.4 million people in the U.S. alone had either smoked or possessed marijuana sometime in the past month before the survey was taken (“What is marijuana”). In other words, Marijuana is a very common and popular drug used in today’s society in the country. According to the public, many people like the drug for either personal use or in other cases it is said to be very useful in the medical field. This drug today is Illegal …show more content…

In this incident, this family grown garden was found and it was reported to the authorities. In court, the defendants were doctor-authorized patients who said that they used the drug for palliative purposes, as the state's medical-marijuana law had permitted since 1998. Each faces a minimum of 10 years in prison. Barring a plea, they will almost certainly be convicted (“Pot Paradox”). This court case turns out to be an example on how misleading the legalization of marijuana is in states. This caused mass confusion in the state for clarification on what the law really meant on how it affected the use of marijuana. As of right now the law states that marijuana is only to be used for medical uses in Washington and not for everyday and Recreational use. This is confusing because some people that use the drug as a painkiller often argue that these people are using it for a medical use rather than just for their own pleasure and entertainment, in other words, recreational use.
