Persuasive essay- Racism in the Police force of United States
The United States police force, when they shoot, is it law enforcement or racism? White officers on an average, kill two black suspects a week, Ninety Six per year. Throughout basically the whole of America, a Black person is clearly more likely to be killed by a police officer, compared to a white person, who is much safer. Now, why is this? I believe it’s down to the history of America and people still growing up, to believe the stereotype that blacks are different. In my opinion I don’t think this should be a thing. This is quite repulsive, considering black men only make up six percent of the United States population. This is clear evidence that there is still racism running through America, as what other explanation is there for it? A few of these murders actually got caught on video via cell phones and police cameras. In these videos, it clearly shows that the suspects were unarmed, but yet the officers still proceeded to kill them. One of the killings caught on tape was atrocious, the suspects name that had died in the video was called Philando Castile. His fiancé was in the passenger seat and had started recording once her husband had got shot. In the back of the car, was there daughter aged four. In the video his fiancé says “the officer shot him three times because we had a busted taillight.” This is just one of the many murders that has happened in America in recent times and this one all started for being pulled over, for a broken taillight. This officer later said in court, that he had felt threatened. But yet how could he be threatened by a black family unarmed? He ended up having no jail time and in my opinion got off with
