Many prescription drugs are handed out to Americans daily, although many people disagree with using prescription drugs. According to Merriam Webster, a prescription drug is “a drug that can be obtained only by means of a physician's prescription.” A few examples of prescription drugs are Xanax, Medical Marijuana, Percocet, and Codeine. Prescription drugs can be very helpful but tend to be misleading to others since people abuse them. Prescription drugs should be used on people because it medically serves a purpose by giving treatment to several severe cases. In fact, 109,615,113 prescription drugs were filled at New Jersey pharmacies.

These drugs help and benefit so many humans who are in desperate situations. These people might have faced death but the drugs saved them. These people might have been in terrible accidents, but with the help of drugs, the pain was lifted off of their shoulders. Pain relievers come in different forms but they have the same job of seizing pain and aches. When you are injured the chemical prostaglandins is discharged through your body’s cells. Prostaglandins do not have a positive reaction to your nerves and skin tissue, which is what all of the pain you are feeling is. When you take these drugs to ease your pain they interfere with your cells and get in between your nerve cells. Getting in between these nerve cells will stop messages from getting to your brain. These messages are signals of pain. Therefore, your brain will not know about the pain you are in pain and you will not feel it. Not only do prescription drugs aid huge problems, they solve smaller sicknesses too. For example, a cough medicine called promethazine. These drugs work by going against and fighting off microorganisms flowing through your body. A microorganism is a microscopic organism that is contaminated with bacteria.
