Throughout my high school experience I spent my time training and walking dogs busy for individuals. I deeply care for the wellbeing of animals, and the health of pets are very important to me. There are so many people who crave purebred pets, and rebuff the idea of adopting. What these people don't know is how kennel clubs maintain purebred pets through atrocious methods. I desire to spread word about the forced interbreeding of dogs with members of their litter, and how many breeds are dysfunctional and all their problems could be fixed if the masses allowed them to breed outside their specific breed. I would donate a large portion of the grant to the ASPCA. Cattle are branded, castrated and may have their horns removed without painkillers. Modern, factory-farmed turkeys do not look like their wild ancestors. They are disproportionately breast-heavy (a result of genetic mutation), and selective breeding has resulted in extremely accelerated growth. Humans do not have to stop obtaining food through farm animals, but the methods must be humane and painless for the harvested animals. Farm animals are as deserving of a peaceful life as any other species society chooses. In my community alone there frequent organized barbecues held, and from what I have heard they do not cost much. My community needs to be informed of where exactly their meals come from. Therefore, I would like to spend the other half of the grant on educating my community and others about the misery farm animals must live through. I would want to get in contact with people who are professionals in this topic to speak to the public. Seeing the crimes firsthand also may cause a change of heart, which is why I would like for those willing to witness
