Sex Trafficking: The Unknown World It’s 3:15 p.m, Tuesday after school, and Natalie goes on Facebook to see new updates. As she logs in, she notices a friend request at the top right of her Facebook page. “Mark Simpson?” she quietly says to herself. Natalie has never met him before, but decides to accept the request anyway. As soon as she accepts the friend request Mark is quick to start a conversation with her. “Hey, how are you doing Natalie!?” It has been rough on her lately because of all the family stress, school, and self insecurities. Sex trafficking is one of the largest money producing businesses making over 10 billion a year. Over 25 million adults and children are trafficked around the world. China, India, and the United States are one of the top ranked sex trafficked areas. They are also the most populated areas in the world. It was 2:30 a.m when they splashed burning hot water over Natalie’s head and blindfolded her as they aggressively moved her into a van. She was extremely nauseous and frightened for what was to come. Tears streaming down her face, she mourns “why, why me.” The two pimps who were in charge of her drag her out into a fairly large warehouse. They then took the blindfolds off and pushed her to the middle of the room. Looking around the empty and dark place, a man in a suit passes a large stack of money around. They were gambling and auctioning her. Natalie was conscious but so frail that she could not do anything and just sat.
