In the case of using sleep walking or night terrors as an excuse for committing crimes, there are a lot of questions one may ask themselves. Is there a possibility that a person has absolutely no control over their body or their actions? If a person has no control over their body or actions, is there a way to prove that? There are so many questions without many answers. When it comes to taking responsibility for crimes committed during sleepwalking, I believe that there should be some responsibility that has to be placed on the person who committed the crime. I believe this simply due to the fact that many people have the issue, and there does not seem to be a way to recover from it, other than just growing out of it, which is very common with mental disorders, such as AD/HD or ADD. The definition of “disorder” is something that disrupt a systematic functioning or neat arrangement. I believe that sleepwalking does disrupt, not only one's sleep schedule, but their internal clock and their connection to their body while asleep. I can see why people would say that there shouldn’t be any possibility of getting away with committing a crime just because they claim that they were sleepwalking. Many people may say that there is no way of knowing or proving that someone killed someone else while they were actually asleep. There is no for-sure way of knowing if someone was sleepwalking or not. Some people may also say that sleepwalking is not a real threat and that it is just an excuse that criminals use to try and get away with murder. On the other side of things, I can definitely see how people, including myself, would believe that there are many people that suffer from sleepwalking and could be capable of doing almost anything while they were doing
