On October 1, 2003, Dawna Cantrell was arrested and charged with the murder of her husband and two counts of tampering with evidence. Ms. Cantrell’s competency was questioned after evaluation by the defense expert, Dr. Eric Westfried. After subsequent evaluation by the state’s expert, Dr. Edward Siegel, both experts found that Ms. Cantrell had a “persecutory delusional disorder” and that her mental illness precluded her from assisting her attorney in her defense. The trial court found her incompetent to stand trial and ordered a dangerousness evaluation.

Sleep Essay 1 After reading “Turn off, Tune out, Turn in” and “Homeroom Zombies”, one can see that Marissa Lang supports her argument better. “Turn off, Tune out, Turn in” is better because it has greater and more reliable evidence. One can see that in “Homeroom Zombies”, the first two paragraphs look to be plagiarized, and that lets one know almost immediately that it is not a very reliable source. The reader can tell that Lang has a more reliable format.
Case Overview The case of R. v Montana is a case that seeks to determine whether Hugo Montana is responsible for the death of Ms. Wise, Mr. Montana’s former girlfriend. The conviction of Mr. Montana hinges on the testimony of Mrs. Walters, a neighbour of the deceased who originally testified to last seeing Mr. Montana at Ms. Wise’s apartment on Thursday, January 8th, one day after the body of Ms. Wise was discovered. After undergoing an interview under hypnosis Ms. Wise changed her testimony now stating that she remembered seeing Mr. Montana at the deceased home on Wednesday, January 7th, the last day that Ms. Wise was alive. The issue present in this case is whether Mrs. Walter’s hypnotic interview influenced her testimony or if under the state of hypnosis Mrs. Walter managed to remember a vital
Bogard states “already the world health organization classifies working the night shift as a probable human carcinogen.” he also says “Our bodies need darkness to produce the hormone melatonin.” Both phrases use logic to persuade the audience. Humans need melatonin, because it “keeps cetain cancers from developing.” Paul states “sleep disorders have been linked to diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and depression.”
Hi, I’m Haley Fox, a detective for the “Virginia State Police Department.” Recently, it has been brought to my attention that a man, whom we do not know the name of, is going on a rampage, killing innocent people in their sleep. I’ve done some various research on this man, based on what we do know, which includes digging up some of his records here with the police department. Strangely enough, we’ve noticed that this isn’t the first time that this man has killed someone. This unexplained killing, and the reason behind the killing, has led us to believe that maybe this man is crazy.
This evidence demonstrates that O.J cut his finger while murdering Nicole and Ron, ran to the backside of the house, on the way he took off the left-handed glove, he got in his Bronco and drove back to his house, leaving a trail of incriminating blood all the way from the crime scene to his residence. ( User, Super. “The Trial of O. J. Simpson: The Incriminating Evidence.” Famous Trials,
This argument is not valid because the narrator violated the law when he lied to the police. Next, he dismembered the body which breaks many laws and could be used against him in law. There would be no counter argument that could help the narrator be proven
"One finger was nearly torn off. The injuries indicated a vicious struggle. Sheppard’s hands may have held the answer of the murder, for they surely came into contact with the person who murdered her" (1). If Sam Sheppard had murdered his wife there would at least been evidence on Sheppard’s hands. Marilyn was severely beaten to death, she had been struck twenty-seven times in the head, thirty-five times in all.
First-Degree Murder is the most serious crime that can be committed, punishable by the death penalty. Once someone commits this crime, they are forever known as a dangerous and terrible person. The decision to murder someone is usually conscious, but in some occasions the suspect can plead innocent for reasons of temporary insanity. In the short story “The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe, a man decided to murder his neighbor because he was scared of the neighbor’s eye. When the police came to interrogate him, the man heard a heartbeat in his head.
There has been times when someone that committed a crime uses their unconsciousness as an excuse to justify their atrocities. I don’t believe that someone’s unconsciousness is an excuses for anything. Some people might need therapy to help solve and forget about some of their problems, but they are still going to be there like Freud said “ Unconscious thoughts may reappeared as dreams or neurotic symptoms, disturbing normal thought with their insistent desire and fears” (Bishop, pg. 397).
