Where is the humanity? How can people see children being washed up on beaches and still think whether the country should help them and give them a home? Much of Syria’s population are escaping their home country and in many cases, they might not see their family and friends who are trapped in their own country. Since the beginning of the Syrian war starting in 2011, many Syrian residents have fled the country and settled in other countries, the Unites States being one. This is due to persecution and unrelenting poverty. Currently, the Syrian civil war is largest cause of refugees, where 13.5 million Syrians are now requiring humanitarian assistance. This country has a reputation for being big and strong, therefore should be able to help those less fortunate. The U.S. has one of the most intense vetting process assuring the safety of citizens of the United States. "the most rigorous screening of any traveler to the U.S.," says a senior administration official. The screening process takes around eighteen to twenty-four months on average to complete, where only about fifty percent pass the screenings. In those who have been admitted it seem to be the most vulnerable such as children, women, and the elderly. Only allowing two percent to be male men in a “combat age,” meaning young enough to have participated in a rebel organization. It is understandable that after the Paris attack it may concern people that allowing more refugees to enter can be a risk. But, how many more refugees have proven to be excellent citizens becoming hard working doctors, teachers ,etc. Many of the refugees come to this country with skills that they are not allowed to practice their skill because they are not given a
