When it comes to the topic of refugees, most of us will readily agree America has the capabilities and ideologies to help all the refugees escape persecution. Where this topic usually ends, however, is on the question can we keep America and its citizens safe while providing a safe haven for these refugees. Whereas some are convinced that the refugees are harmless just trying to escape certain death, others maintain that yes some are harmless, but some are here to do Americans harm. To know people are being beheaded, raped, and tortured because they are a woman or that they do not have the same beliefs as others is extremely heartbreaking. Top government agencies and establishments in Europe are now acknowledging the growing chaos the “refugee crisis” is bringing to its homeland. Syrian Refugees are coming from a culture where women have no rights, they cannot speak without permission, no education, and they are the property of males. One shocking culture difference is rape, rape is none existent, prove rape in Syria there must be four male eye witnesses, that will never happen. It is a culture shock when coming to a culture where women have the same rights as the male. However, many male refugees are not assimilating to the new life style. Accounts of woman in Europe refusing to go outside after dark for fear of assaults, this is their own country and are scared for their lives.
