Imagine all of a students classwork, homework, and even his classes, on a single tablet screen. Technology has overtaken the world and has miraculously become something that the majority of humanity uses on a daily basis. New laptops, tablets, phones, televisions screens, and other devices create new innovations every year. Now technology is being used for education. Albeit, technology can limit the freedom of students by constant monitoring of their device, it is quite an impact on learning and protects students from learning outdated information, thus preparing them for the future. Computer technology dates back to the early 1930s and has not ceased to grow throughout the world. Everyday engineers are developing new products and innovating old ones. Although standard smart boards and computers were introduced to schools in the 1980s, only recently have students used electronic tablets such as Apple’s Ipad for digital textbooks and classrooms. Technology in schools thus protects the future of young students. Educator Justin Tarte asserts, “Technology can no longer be viewed as a learning enhancer; it must be viewed as a foundational piece of living in the 21st century.” Not only is technology a “learning enhancer”, but also an inevitable piece of the future, ergo it is necessary to have now. Currently, already more than fifty percent of all jobs require some form of degree in technology. Furthermore, Scott Garofola proclaims, “People say 'Aren't you worried what students may do in the digital world?' My response, 'I'm more worried if we don't teach them how.'” The lack of technology can engender more jobless people, which would be egregious. Unemployment is a problem as it is. Technology is schools however, must be given to students without violating their freedom, but protecting their learning
