There is almost nothing in this world that is more tragic than a child’s life being taken by a disease. Since children have not been exposed to much, they have weaker immune systems and are more at risk for infection. How are we able to protect these children from a disease like this? By vaccinating them. However, there are always many risks that come up when dealing with medicine of any kind. Because of these risks, many parents have argued that vaccinations should not be required for children.

Autism is a birth defect where a child’s social and learning skills are more delayed than a child without autism. This would be understandable as to why a parent would not feel safe vaccinating their child.
After thorough research done by scientists and doctors, they have come to the conclusion that vaccines and autism have no connection whatsoever. The reason for the speculation is that when a parent starts noticing the signs of autism, it is normally around the age of 12-18 months. This is the age where the shot for MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) would be given. The MMR vaccine is the one that the autism controversy is about.
In conclusion, about ninety percent of Americans have decided to vaccinate their children and most of them have been free from disease. Last year we had a big outbreak of whooping cough. The only way to keep these diseases from happening is to keep vaccinations mandatory for children. Vaccinations save lives and prevent infectious disease from happening. A few trips to the doctor from the time a child is born until their fifth birthday could save the lives of them and the children around them. The American families need to be ready for these outbreaks and get the required vaccinations for their children. This technology is there to prevent widespread epidemic, it is up to parents to save the lives of the future
