Growing up with a pescetarian mother (eating no meat other than fish) and omnivore father has not been the easiest of tasks. My mother likes to think she is holier-than-thou because of her diet, while my father just sits and laughs in the corner while eating a stack of ribs. When I read Alan Richmands excerpt “Fork It Over: My Beef with Vegans” I identified with his experiences with vegans because they were what I had experienced with my pescetarian mother over the years. Despite non meat eaters trying to convert meat eaters through persistent ranting, describing in great detail how the animals are raised and slaughtered (guilt tripping), and by trying to demonstrate that food made without animal products can taste just as good as those made with animal products a person can still make the decision to eat meat and enjoy it.
In the article, "My Vegan Diet Almost Killed Me" by Jane Ridley, Jordan Younger 's experience with veganism is discussed. Veganism is a way of living that excludes all animal products, typically for health or ethical reasons. The article explores Younger 's experimentation with veganism, which she claims has induced her eating disorder. Jordan Younger was 23 years old when her diet, which was an 800-calories-per-day juice cleanse, left her with severe health issues. She was constantly cold, suffered an extreme vitamin deficiency, and was undergoing hair loss.
While a vegetarian usually steers clear of all meat products, vegans avoid all meat AND any associated by-products too. Meat by-products include milk, honey and many other unexpected items. Any product that is derived from animals should be left out when creating a vegan meal. Plan Ahead
Although being a vegetarian isn’t for everyone, this would be a great way to help reduce the factory farming sales. In doing this it could make your body cleaner and put a stop to some animals being killed for unnecessary purposes. Going vegan is a great way to start, but consuming eggs and dairy still causes death and suffering to animals (Lin, 2012). Becoming a vegan is only a partial solution to this major problem that seems to be getting worse in todays society. These factory farms think its okay to abuse animals and inject them with chemicals that affect our people.
What do a tomato, soybean and a french fry have in common? They are all some of the most commonly genetically modified foods sold on the market today. By using the genetic information from one organism, and inserting or modifying it into another organism, scientists can make food crops stay fresher, grow bigger, and have the crops create their own pesticides. Nevertheless, the technology to modify genes has surpassed its practicality. Genetically modified foods need to be removed from everyday agriculture because of the threat they pose to human health, the environment, and the impact on global economy.
You will also notice that you will have an easier time reaching your weight goals, as well as adopt a healthy body mass index rating to prove that you are a healthier version of yourself. In addition to visually noticeable changes, you will also notice internal changes that take place when you take on the vegan diet. Your energy and mental clarity will increase, and your risk of migraines or other bothersome headaches will decrease. You might notice a reduced amount of allergic reactions to things you are normally bothered by, also.
Albert Einstein said, “Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.” Veganism is a lifestyle in which people are compassionate towards animals, eliminating meat and dairy from diets. Animal agriculture destroys the environment, farm animal’s lives, and human health. As many as 3,000 animals or more are killed every second in slaughterhouses, not including fish and other sea animals (Animal Equality Food). More people should choose veganism because it is healthier for the body, it saves the environment, and animal’s lives.
Another thing that non-vegans think about veganism is, “why do vegans always look ill?” This is a very controversial topic because people don’t think vegans are healthy. But if a meat-eater didn’t manage their diet they would get sick as well. It’s all about having enough information to do it healthfully and to not get
Imagine being so hungry you can’t even move. Having to sleep in a house made of dirt, or being so thirsty because there is no safe drinking water. People around the World face these problems everyday. 328,000,000 children live in extreme poverty, and 1 in 10 people live on less than $1.90 a day. The conditions they live in are horrible and everyone should do what they can to help end poverty and world hunger.
Rights are against the use of force and they are our primary if not only our means of survival. There is only one fundamental right: To live successfully, a man has to make his own choices as well as animals too (Roleff,2014,p.33). There is a huge difference between giving animals their rights which is less than human beings and not to give them rights at all. Nowadays animals are presented in many places of entertainment such as zoos and cruces as well as aquariums where the audients pay a lot of cash to watch fun and exciting things going on, it sure makes us happy but what about the animals are they happy too? Are places of entertainment appropriate for wild animals to live in it normally?
Eating meat is beneficial to humanity, because they provide nourishment that cannot be obtained from other sources. Without the support of animals, humans lack a distinctive diet, that is essential to their well-being. However, since animals are so important to the diet, they deserve great care and respect as well. Humans were always hunters and gathers. They always knew that meat was a big source of protein that helped keep them going(Araki).
Veganism is a foolproof method to provide the answers the Earth needs, especially as the world’s population continues its inefficient and environmentally damaging methods of energy usage. People tend to focus on the political sides of climate change, however, the biggest problem the world faces in energy consumption is not transportation emissions but is how we go about out food systems and daily food choices. Evidence has surfaced about how daily food choices impact the climate severely. According to an assessment by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the livestock sector of global greenhouse gases surpassed that of transportation.
Being a vegetarian means that you have to exclude all foods that contain any sort of meat in it including all dairy products if you are a strict vegetarian or a vegan. Some people choose to become a vegetarian as it can help with weight loss due to the decreased calorie intake and the fact that plant proteins, fruits and vegetables have less calories in them and are high in minerals and vitamins. Ofcourse there are multiple reasons why people choose to become vegetarians but weight loss, saving the planet and saving the animals are common reasons why vegetarianism is growing. It is proven that being a vegetarian decreases the chance of getting diseases or illnesses such as cancer, heart disease and diabetes due to a healthier diet.
Starting off small and becoming vegetarian is an amazing start. Vegetarians, are a less radical version of vegans. While they eliminate meat products, like chicken or meat, they still consume dairy products like, milk or cheese. The point is, it can be done. Veganism is the key to a healthier
The world is experiencing a dilemma today. Many people suffer from hunger, malnutrition, and other problems caused by the lack of sufficient food. However, many other people buy or order excessive foods and waste a lot. In my community, food waste is much more serious than food shortage, and it is easy to see that people throw foods in the dustbin and the foods indeed are still eatable. Food waste is a serious problem.
