“Video games provide a fun escape from reality. Though, they are portrayed as violent, lazy, and a waste of time by some.” (ASAP Science) It is very typical for the regular people of today to see kids and adolescents playing all sorts of video games, from shooting to racing to strategy, either in their home or at their friend’s home. Many kids play games from franchises such as Call of Duty or Halo. Over many years gaming companies had enriched and expanded their franchise to the level of gaming it is at now. In these years, all kids have to do is start up the console, pick up the controller and start playing. It is a high school end-of-the-year-ritual game. In the game there are two teams trying to eliminate each other and there is one judge. The judge is the guy that makes all the calls. “The judge also makes a pie chart of death-the order of killing assignments. which he or she distributes to squads shortly before opening day.” (High-Jinks:Shoot-Out, Guy Martin) Even though this game’s main goal is to eliminate the opposing team, the judge is very likely a very intelligent person that creates the kill order. He has to be able to know everyone playing, the player’s personality, and much more about the player to form the most interesting and best face-off among fellow students. In general, the judge is the guy that creates the face-offs and battles that are going to have to most dramatic effects to please the audience. Almost every month we see a new uprising about a psychotic gamer carrying a machinegun and entering safe environments such as schools and injuring people or even worse, killing people. One of the most famous of these incidents took place in Sandy Hook, Connecticut. An article states “As it turns out, the steady parade of console-fitted gore-tainment [made a direct contribution] to making society less violent.” ( Evan Dashevsky). As companies further develop their video games to become visually more realistic, many people become less violent outside because they are satisfied by doing violent things in games such as Grand Theft Auto. As gamers experience violence in their video games they release their violent nature in their games instead of the real world. Although it is true that violent games make people less aggressive outside it is not 100% certain that people when provoked will release their anger. To conclude, as video games become more violent gamers are more likely to stick to playing their violent games instead of do acts of violence outside of the virtual
