Why my statue should stand A long time ago, I invented and designed artificial organs for people in need of organ transplants. I was recognized for all of my hard work and innovative designs. Subsequently, I was rewarded with a few statues of myself located in front of popular local spots. I am honoured to be one of the faces recognized and I can’t be thankful enough for the amount of support I have received so far. Recently, it came to my attention that a new law was made, it now states that causing offence is illegal and doing anything or saying something that causes another person to be uncomfortable or highly disagreeable is illegal. Everyone is obeying and abiding by this new law and not even a few days have passed since this new law has been enforced. Already, people are saying that the statues of mine should be taken down because of what I have said or done in the past to cause someone to be uncomfortable. At the time of being rewarded with my statues, this law did not exist. There are a great deal of I should be recognized for what I did to save a substantial amount of lives and not held to a standard that did not exist in my time. It is vacuous to think that my statue should be taken down when there are an abundance of contentious statues that still stand ground today.
